The Unibrain FireWire-400 (IEEE 1394a) 6-pin to 6-pin cable is a professional-grade cable designed for reliable high-speed FireWire connections in broadcast, industrial, scientific, and legacy AV environments where FireWire still does real work.
Built to exceed the original IEEE-1394a cabling requirements, Unibrain cables feature precise 110-ohm impedance control, quad shielding, and high-quality connectors to maintain signal integrity across longer runs. Unlike bargain-bin FireWire cables that quietly ruin your signal, these are engineered to minimize skew, attenuation, crosstalk, EMI, and RFI.
These cables support FireWire S400 (up to 400 Mbps) and are fully compatible with IEEE-1394a and Sony i-Link devices. Plug-and-play hot swapping is supported with no terminators required. They are suitable for professional devices such as DV cameras, audio interfaces, external drives, test equipment, and industrial imaging systems.
Note: For reliable operation at full S400 speeds, cable lengths up to 10 m (32.8 ft) are recommended. Longer FireWire networks should use active repeaters.
