Baaske Medical MI-1005 Network Isolator, Gigabit Ethernet, IEC 60601-1 (5 kV)

Medical-grade Gigabit Ethernet network isolator providing galvanic isolation up to 5 kV AC. IEC 60601-1 compliant with 2 MOPP for patient protection.

The Baaske Medical MI-1005 Network Isolator is a TÜV-certified, medical-grade Ethernet isolator designed to provide galvanic isolation for Ethernet data lines in patient environments and other electrically sensitive applications.

Compliant with IEC 60601-1 (Edition 3.2) and EN 60601-1-2, the MI-1005 protects patients, users, and connected equipment from dangerous leakage currents that may occur due to installation faults, potential differences, or environmental influences such as lightning-induced overvoltages.

The MI-1005 supports Gigabit Ethernet (10/100/1000 Mbps) and operates completely transparently within the data network. Despite its high isolation performance, it maintains excellent signal quality with a maximum insertion loss of only 1.1 dB, enabling reliable operation over standard 100-meter copper Ethernet links.

Designed specifically for use in the patient environment, the MI-1005 provides two independent Means of Patient Protection (2 MOPP), ensuring standard-compliant isolation between medical devices and non-medical network equipment such as PCs, printers, or hospital IT infrastructure.

The device is fully passive, requires no external power supply, and can be commissioned by simply inserting it inline between Ethernet cables. Protection against hazardous leakage currents is established in less than 5 seconds, with no drivers or software installation required.

Key advantages

Medical-grade patient protection

Provides two independent Means of Patient Protection (2 MOPP) in accordance with IEC 60601-1 for safe use in patient environments.

High-voltage galvanic isolation

Delivers up to 5 kV AC isolation and 10 kV DC insulation resistance to protect against leakage currents and overvoltages.

Transparent Gigabit Ethernet performance

Supports 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet with minimal insertion loss and no impact on network configuration.

Instant, tool-free deployment

Passive inline design requires no power, drivers, or software and protects within seconds of installation.

Reliable operation in harsh environments

Designed to withstand ESD events, lightning-induced surges, and wide temperature ranges.

Low operating cost and long service life

No power consumption, rugged construction, and a 5-year warranty reduce total cost of ownership.
